N-acetyl Selank Research
N-Acetyl Selank is a modified form of the peptide Selank, a nootropic and anxiety-reducing peptide. N-Acetyl Selank Amidate can be considered as an improved form of Selank, as studies have revealed that it enhances every aspect of Selank by boosting its strength, duration of action, absorption rate and ability to cross the blood-brain barrier.
Below are some key findings from research conducted on N-Acetyl Selank:
- Higher Potency: N-Acetyl Selank Amidate exhibits greater potency compared to standard Selank as a result of its enhanced ability to efficiently cross the blood-brain barrier
- Gene Expression: Selank has been shown to modify gene expression in the brain, reducing the effects of the neurotransmitter GABA, altering cell membrane permeability, and enhancing production of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF)
- Anxiolytic and Nootropic Effects: Selank has pronounced anxiolytic activity and acts as a stable neuropsychotropic, antidepressant, and antistress drug that relieves aggression and fear reaction in different animal species. It also has a nootropic action, which positively influences the formation of memory and learning processes. N-Acetyl Selank has been shown to regulate the body’s stress response, which is critical for improving mood and memory
- Immunomodulatory Effects: Selank has marked immunomodulatory activity

Selank and Anxiety
Selank alters the function of GABA synapses that are involved in calming the nervous system. By enhancing GABA’s inhibitory effects on other neurotransmitters, Selank can effectively alleviate anxiety. Furthermore, Selank has the ability to influence interleukin-6 (IL-6), resulting in a decrease in its levels and providing anti-inflammatory properties.
Studies have shown that Selank has anxiolytic properties and can also provide stimulation. It has been researched in Russia as a potential treatment for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) and neurasthenia. The anxiolytic effects of Selank were found to be comparable to those of medazepam, while also exhibiting antiasthenic and psychostimulant effects.
Selank and Memory
Selank has been discovered to enhance memory stability in rats, irrespective of their anxiety levels. This suggests that the peptide has effects that go beyond alleviating stress-related memory impairment. Selank seems to impact memory by modulating the expression of certain genes in the hippocampus. In a study, rats with neurological impairment experienced cognitive restoration when treated with Selank.
In a study conducted on Wistar rats, it was discovered that Selank demonstrated the ability to enhance memory retention for a duration of 30 days following a single injection. Additionally, Selank was observed to stimulate serotonin metabolism in the hypothalamus and caudal brain stem for a period ranging from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
